- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for cream filling)
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (blue)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp coarse sugar or sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles. Place on baking sheet.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar, and salt until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of jam on half of each rectangle, leaving a small border.
- Add a dollop of cream cheese mixture on top of the jam.
- Top with a few fresh blueberries, then fold pastry in half (seal edges) and crimp with fork.
- Whisk egg with water, brush over pastries. Sprinkle coarse sugar if using.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden-brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving to allow filling to set.
Notes
- Use chilled pastry for maximum flakiness.
- Seal edges well to prevent leaks.
- Jam choice: raspberry or strawberry work best for vibrant red.
- Allow to cool 5 minutes so filling doesn’t spill.
- Make ahead and warm before serving.
