This crispy panko shrimp is coated in seasoned breadcrumbs and fried to perfection. It’s light, crunchy, and packed with flavor—perfect as an appetizer, snack, or main dish! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Your favorite dipping sauce (cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, or spicy mayo)

Instructions

  • Prepare the coating: Set up three bowls—one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Coat the shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in flour, dip into the egg, then coat with panko, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Heat the oil: In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the shrimp: Cook in batches for about 2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  • Serve: Enjoy hot with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

  • For a healthier version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, or air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes.
  • Add Parmesan cheese to the panko for extra flavor!
  • Works great in shrimp tacos, over salads, or as a sandwich filling.
