This Oreo Dirt Cake is a creamy, chocolatey no-bake dessert made with layers of crushed Oreos, a fluffy pudding-cream cheese filling, and a smooth, rich texture. It’s perfect for potlucks, parties, or as a fun treat for kids—plus, it looks just like dirt!
Ingredients
Scale
For the Oreo “Dirt” Layer:
- 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (crushed into crumbs)
- 2 tbsp butter (melted, optional for extra crunch)
For the Creamy Filling:
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 packages (3.4 oz each) instant vanilla pudding mix (or chocolate for extra richness!)
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream, see notes)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oreo Crumbs
- Crush Oreos in a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and smashing with a rolling pin.
- Set aside ½ cup of crushed Oreos for topping.
Step 2: Make the Creamy Filling
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together pudding mix and cold milk until thickened (about 2 minutes).
- Fold the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture.
- Gently fold in Cool Whip until fully combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Dirt Cake
- In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the crushed Oreos as the bottom layer.
- Pour and spread the pudding-cream cheese mixture evenly over the Oreos.
- Top with the remaining crushed Oreos.
- Sprinkle the reserved ½ cup Oreos on top for a “fresh dirt” effect.
Step 4: Chill & Serve
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best texture).
- Serve chilled and enjoy!
Fun Variations
- “Dirt & Worms” Cake: Add gummy worms on top for a fun kids’ version! 🪱
- Chocolate Lovers’ Version: Use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.
- Cup Version: Layer into small cups or jars for individual servings.
Notes
- No Cool Whip? Substitute with 1 cup homemade whipped cream (whip ½ cup heavy cream + 1 tbsp sugar).
- Make It Crunchier: Mix melted butter into the crushed Oreos for a firmer crust.
- Storage: Keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
