Description

These Orange Creamsicle Truffles are a delightful blend of sweet orange flavor and creamy white chocolate, reminiscent of the classic summer popsicle. With a smooth ganache center and a powdered sugar coating, they make a perfect no-bake treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 3 drops orange food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chocolate Mixture:
    • Place the white chocolate chips in a medium heat-safe bowl.
    • Add the orange extract and orange food coloring to the bowl; set aside.
  2. Heat the Cream and Butter:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.
    • Add the heavy whipping cream and increase the heat to medium.
    • Whisk the mixture together and heat just until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
  3. Combine and Chill:
    • Pour the hot cream and butter mixture over the white chocolate chips.
    • Let it sit for a minute, then stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until the mixture is firm enough to handle.
  4. Form the Truffles:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Scoop small amounts of the chilled mixture and roll into 1-inch balls.
    • Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Coat with Powdered Sugar:
    • Place the powdered sugar in a shallow dish.
    • Roll each truffle in the powdered sugar until fully coated.
    • Return the coated truffles to the baking sheet.
  6. Chill and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the truffles for an additional 20 minutes to set.
    • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
    • Allow truffles to come to room temperature before serving for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For a variation, you can substitute lemon extract and yellow food coloring to make lemon truffles.
  • Ensure the white chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth before chilling to achieve a creamy texture.
  • These truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
