Description

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara or pasta sauce
  • 3 cups water or low-sodium broth
  • 12 oz spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Pour in marinara sauce and water or broth. Stir in oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add spaghetti, making sure it’s submerged in liquid. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  6. Cook uncovered for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce is slightly thickened.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese if using. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot.
