Description

No Knead Bread is a simple, rustic loaf with a crispy crust and soft interior that requires minimal effort. Perfect for beginners, this hands-off recipe uses slow fermentation to develop deep flavor.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. No kneading required.
  3. Cover bowl with plastic wrap or a towel and let sit at room temperature for 12–18 hours.
  4. After rising, the dough should be bubbly and doubled in size. Turn it out onto a well-floured surface and shape it into a ball. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  5. While dough rests, preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven (with lid) inside to heat for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Carefully place dough into the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove lid and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
  8. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to easily transfer dough to the hot Dutch oven.
  • Try mixing in herbs, cheese, or olives for variation.
  • Store leftovers wrapped in a clean towel or paper bag to preserve the crust.
