Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup M&M’s (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pan:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients:
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully combined.
- Combine the Dry Ingredients:
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Fold gently into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Add the M&M’s:
- Fold 1 cup of M&M’s into the batter, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
- Bake the Brownies:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle extra M&M’s on top for decoration.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool and Serve:
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Use peanut butter or caramel M&M’s for a flavor twist.
- For extra fudginess, reduce baking time slightly, or for more cake-like brownies, bake a few minutes longer.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
