Description

These Mint Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies are buttery, crumbly, and melt in your mouth! Infused with a hint of mint and studded with chocolate chips, they’re rolled in powdered sugar to resemble snowballs. Perfect for the holiday season or any time you crave a festive treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar, plus more for coating
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup (135g) mini chocolate chips
  • Green food coloring (optional, for a minty look)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the Flavoring:
    • Mix in the peppermint and vanilla extracts. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Combine the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the Chocolate Chips:
    • Gently stir in the mini chocolate chips. The dough will be thick but should hold together when pressed.
  6. Form the Cookies:
    • Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place the balls about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the tops are not browned.
  8. Coat in Powdered Sugar:
    • Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while still warm. Allow to cool completely and roll them in powdered sugar again for a snowy finish.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For extra minty flavor, increase the peppermint extract to 1 1/2 teaspoons.
