Description

Microwave Caramels are soft, chewy, buttery caramels made easily in the microwave with just a few ingredients — perfect for homemade candy lovers.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and sweetened condensed milk.
  3. Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Use oven mitts and be cautious as the mixture gets hot.
  4. After 6 minutes, stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the caramel into the prepared baking dish and let cool at room temperature for 2–3 hours or until firm.
  6. Once set, lift out the caramel, cut into small squares, and wrap in wax paper if desired.

Notes

  • Microwave times may vary based on wattage; use caution and adjust as needed.
  • To test firmness, drop a bit of hot caramel into cold water — it should form a soft ball.
  • Store caramels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
