- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan or on a baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard.
- Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
- Bake for 45 minutes, then spread the remaining glaze on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the meatloaf is fully cooked without drying out.
- Customize by adding diced bell peppers or shredded carrots to the mixture.
