Description

A classic, hearty Meatloaf with Brown Sugar Glaze, featuring a tender, flavorful beef mixture topped with a sweet and tangy brown sugar-ketchup glaze for the ultimate comfort food meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan or on a baking sheet.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard.
  5. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, then spread the remaining glaze on top.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the meatloaf is fully cooked without drying out.
  • Customize by adding diced bell peppers or shredded carrots to the mixture.
