Description

Loaded Tater Cups are crispy, bite-sized nests of shredded potatoes filled with cheese, bacon, and sour cream — a fun and flavorful appetizer perfect for parties or game day.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, mix thawed hash browns, melted butter, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
  3. Divide mixture evenly among muffin cups and press down to form a cup shape, pushing up the sides.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Use a spoon to gently press down the centers if needed to maintain the cup shape.
  6. Fill each tater cup with a sprinkle of remaining cheese and crumbled bacon. Return to oven for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  7. Top each cup with a small dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated potatoes if desired, but squeeze out excess moisture first.
  • Make ahead and reheat in the oven before serving.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
