Description

This Limoncello Sunrise is a bright, citrusy cocktail that’s as stunning as it is refreshing! Made with sweet Italian limoncello, fresh orange juice, and a splash of grenadine for that classic “sunrise” effect, this drink is perfect for brunches, summer gatherings, or a relaxing evening on the patio.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) limoncello
  • 4 oz (120 ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) grenadine
  • Ice cubes

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Orange slice
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Fresh mint sprig

Instructions

1. Fill the glass:

  • Fill a tall glass (like a highball or Collins glass) with ice cubes.

2. Mix the cocktail:

  • Pour the limoncello and fresh orange juice over the ice. Stir gently to combine.

3. Create the sunrise effect:

  • Slowly pour the grenadine into the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a beautiful gradient effect.
  • Do not stir—let the colors stay separated for the best visual effect.

4. Garnish and serve:

  • Garnish with an orange slice, a maraschino cherry, or a sprig of mint for a refreshing finish.
  • Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy the visual “sunrise” before mixing!

Notes

  • Use blood orange juice for a richer color and deeper citrus flavor.
  • Add a splash of prosecco or sparkling water for some fizz.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace limoncello with lemon syrup and add a splash of sparkling water.
