- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
- Lemon slices, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Pound chicken breasts to even thickness for uniform cooking.
- In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the marinade over the chicken and let sit for at least 15 minutes (up to 2 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor).
- Heat remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken breasts for 5–7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
- In the last 2 minutes of cooking, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over each piece and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices. Serve hot.
Notes
- Bake instead at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes if preferred.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
- Pair with roasted vegetables, pasta, or salad.
