Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slices, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness for uniform cooking.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the marinade over the chicken and let sit for at least 15 minutes (up to 2 hours in the fridge for deeper flavor).
  4. Heat remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sear the chicken breasts for 5–7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
  6. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over each piece and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Bake instead at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes if preferred.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables, pasta, or salad.
