- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs, lemon juice, and lemon zest until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
- For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth, then spread over the cooled brownies.
- Allow glaze to set before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of lemon juice in the glaze to control tartness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For extra lemon flavor, add a few drops of lemon extract to the batter.
