Description

This lavender margarita is a floral twist on the classic cocktail, blending the tang of lime with the subtle sweetness of lavender. It’s refreshing, unique, and perfect for spring or summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the lavender simple syrup:

  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) water
  • 120 g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender (or 2 tablespoons fresh lavender flowers)

For the margarita:

  • 45 ml (1 1/2 oz) tequila blanco
  • 30 ml (1 oz) Cointreau or triple sec
  • 30 ml (1 oz) freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 15 ml (1/2 oz) lavender simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes

For garnish:

  • Salt or sugar for rimming (optional)
  • Lavender sprigs or lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Make the lavender simple syrup:
    • In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and lavender. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
    • Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes.
    • Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender flowers. Let cool completely.
  2. Prepare the rim (optional):
    • Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Dip the rim into salt or sugar, depending on your preference.
  3. Mix the margarita:
    • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, lavender simple syrup, and ice. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  4. Serve:
    • Fill the prepared glass with ice. Strain the margarita into the glass.
    • Garnish with a sprig of lavender or a lime wedge for an elegant touch.
  5. Enjoy:
    • Serve immediately and sip slowly to enjoy the refreshing floral and citrus flavors.

Notes

  • The lavender simple syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • For a mocktail version, replace tequila and Cointreau with sparkling water or lemonade.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less lavender simple syrup to your taste.
