- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean recommended)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey)
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (or more for spice)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
For Serving:
- 2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli or carrots (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add Garlic & Ginger: Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Make the Sauce: Add soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Assemble the Bowls: Serve the beef over a bowl of cooked rice. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and steamed vegetables if desired.
