Ingredients

Scale

For the Danish:

  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian rolls (12 rolls)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite flavor)

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Rolls:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the King’s Hawaiian rolls as a whole block in a baking dish, keeping them attached. Using a small spoon or your fingers, press a shallow well into the center of each roll without cutting through the bottom.

2. Make the Cheesecake Filling:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spoon or pipe the cheesecake filling into the wells of each roll, filling them about halfway.

3. Add the Preserves:

  1. Spoon a small amount of fruit preserves on top of the cheesecake filling in each roll. Spread gently to cover the filling.

4. Bake the Danish:

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges of the rolls are golden and the cheesecake filling is set.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

5. Prepare the Glaze:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm danishes using a spoon or piping bag.

6. Serve:

  1. Pull the danishes apart and serve warm. Enjoy with coffee, tea, or as a delightful standalone treat.

Notes

  • Customize the Filling: Swap the fruit preserves for chocolate chips, Nutella, or caramel for a unique twist.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the danishes the night before and bake fresh in the morning.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
