Description

This spot-on KFC coleslaw copycat recipe delivers the creamy, tangy, slightly sweet flavor you know and love. With finely chopped cabbage, carrots, and onion tossed in a simple dressing, it’s the perfect side dish for BBQs, fried chicken, or burgers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head green cabbage, finely chopped (about 4 cups)

  • 1/4 cup shredded or finely chopped carrot

  • 2 tablespoons finely minced onion

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup buttermilk

  • 1/4 cup whole milk

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, carrot, and onion.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, mayonnaise, buttermilk, milk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to coat evenly.

  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight for best flavor).

  5. Stir well before serving chilled.

Notes

  • se a food processor for a finer chop, just like KFC’s texture.

  • Make a day in advance—the flavor gets better as it rests.

  • Keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days.
