Description

Junk Yard Salad is a nostalgic, no-bake dessert salad that combines cherry pie filling, pineapple, marshmallows, and creamy whipped topping. Known for its simplicity and sweet flavors, it’s a popular choice for potlucks, family gatherings, and summer picnics. This creamy, fruity salad is quick to make and ideal for make-ahead prepping.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 package (1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix (dry)
  • 1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans for added crunch

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, sweetened condensed milk, mini marshmallows, and dry vanilla pudding mix.
  • Gently fold in the Cool Whip until fully blended.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight for the flavors to meld.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This salad can also be frozen, though texture may change slightly.
  • Variations: Reduce sweetness by using sugar-free pudding mix or lower-sugar pie filling. Toasted pecans can add extra flavor and texture.
