Description
July Firework Cupcakes are festive, colorful treats decorated with red, white, and blue frosting and sparkler-style toppings—perfect for 4th of July parties and summer celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
- Red and blue food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tub (16 oz) vanilla frosting or homemade buttercream
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
- Decorative sparkler picks or candy firework toppers (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Prepare cake mix according to package instructions and stir in vanilla extract.
- Divide batter evenly into three bowls. Tint one red, one blue, and leave the third plain (white).
- Spoon small amounts of each colored batter into the cupcake liners, layering or swirling gently with a toothpick for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Divide frosting into three portions and tint two of them red and blue, leaving one white. Fill a piping bag with the three frostings side by side for a tri-color swirl effect.
- Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles and optional firework toppers.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant hues without thinning the batter.
- Store frosted cupcakes in a cool place or refrigerate if not serving immediately.
- Try adding edible glitter or star-shaped sprinkles for extra flair.
