Description

These soft and chewy July Cookies are packed with red, white, and blue M&M’s—perfect for Independence Day or any summer celebration! They’re buttery, sweet, and full of chocolatey goodness. Easy to make and fun for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups red, white, and blue M&M’s (plus extra for topping)

  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

  6. Fold in the M&M’s and mini chocolate chips (if using).

  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.

  8. Press a few extra M&M’s on top of each dough ball for a festive look.

  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.

  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can use regular M&M’s if red, white, and blue aren’t available.

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes if you want thicker cookies.

  • These cookies freeze well for up to 2 months.
