- 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 slices of bacon (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for baked version)
- Cooking spray (if baking)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat oil if frying.
- Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes (wear gloves if sensitive to heat).
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
- Optional: Wrap each filled jalapeño with a slice of bacon or sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- If baking, place on a lined baking sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- If frying, dip in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, and fry in hot oil (350°F) until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by removing all seeds and membranes or leaving some in for more heat.
- Use pre-cooked bacon to ensure crispiness when baking.
- Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
