Description

Jalapeño Poppers are a spicy and cheesy appetizer made by stuffing jalapeño peppers with a rich cream cheese filling, then baking or frying until perfectly golden and delicious.


Ingredients

  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 slices of bacon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for baked version)
  • Cooking spray (if baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat oil if frying.
  2. Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes (wear gloves if sensitive to heat).
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
  5. Optional: Wrap each filled jalapeño with a slice of bacon or sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  6. If baking, place on a lined baking sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. If frying, dip in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, and fry in hot oil (350°F) until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by removing all seeds and membranes or leaving some in for more heat.
  • Use pre-cooked bacon to ensure crispiness when baking.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
