Description
These jalapeño burgers with gorgonzola are the perfect mix of spicy, juicy, and creamy. Fresh jalapeños bring the heat, while crumbled gorgonzola cheese melts into the patty for a rich, tangy bite. Grill them up for an epic burger night that’s anything but ordinary.
Ingredients
For the Burgers:
-
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
-
2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
-
1/2 cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese
For Serving:
-
4 burger buns, toasted
-
Lettuce or arugula
-
Tomato slices
-
Red onion slices
-
Additional crumbled gorgonzola (optional)
-
Your favorite burger sauce or mayo
Instructions
-
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F).
-
Make the burger mix: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped jalapeños, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Gently mix in the crumbled gorgonzola. Don’t overmix.
-
Form patties: Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties, pressing a slight indent in the center of each to help them cook evenly.
-
Grill the burgers: Place patties on the hot grill. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. (Internal temp should be 160°F for well-done.)
-
Toast the buns: During the last minute of grilling, place the buns cut-side down on the grill to toast.
-
Assemble the burgers: Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and any extra gorgonzola. Spread with burger sauce or mayo, top with the patty, and serve hot.
Notes
-
Like it extra spicy? Leave the seeds in the jalapeños or add a few slices on top.
-
Swap gorgonzola for blue cheese if that’s what you have on hand.
-
These burgers work great on a grill, griddle, or stovetop cast iron skillet.
