Description

This sweet and savory chicken dish combines tender chicken with a sticky honey garlic glaze. It’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a flavorful meal that the whole family will enjoy!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (about 1 lb / 450g)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for a light coating)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions

 Prepare the Chicken:

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. If desired, lightly coat the chicken in flour for a crispier texture.

2. Sear the Chicken:

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F / 74°C). Remove the chicken and set aside.

3. Make the Sauce:

  1. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
  3. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and stir it into the sauce. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.

4. Combine and Serve:

  1. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over it to coat. Simmer for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

5. Serve:

Serve warm over steamed rice, noodles, or alongside roasted vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Substitute chicken with shrimp, tofu, or salmon for a variation.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey to suit your taste.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave.
