Scale
- 1.5 pounds (680 grams) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken pieces with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and sear until golden brown and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Drain excess grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.
- Add Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan with the chicken. Sauté until fragrant, approximately 30 seconds.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, water, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Pour this mixture over the chicken.
- Simmer: Increase the heat to medium-high and cook until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve over rice or alongside steamed vegetables.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Bone-in or boneless chicken thighs can be used in this recipe.
- Ensure the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
