Description

Honey Bun Cake is a moist and sweet cinnamon-swirled cake made with yellow cake mix and topped with a sugary glaze, reminiscent of the classic honey bun pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. Pour half the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the dish.
  5. Pour the remaining batter on top and spread gently to cover the cinnamon mixture.
  6. Use a knife to swirl the layers slightly.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. While the cake is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  9. Remove cake from oven and immediately pour glaze over the hot cake.
  10. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream if desired.
  • Best served warm or at room temperature.
