Description

This Homemade Italian Dressing is zesty, tangy, and made with simple pantry staples — perfect for salads, marinades, or as a flavorful dip.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl or jar, combine vinegar, water, mustard, and honey (if using).
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Whisk or shake well to combine.
  4. Slowly drizzle in olive oil while whisking constantly (or shake vigorously in a jar) until well emulsified.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Shake or stir before each use, as separation is natural.
  • Use fresh herbs if preferred — double the quantity for best flavor.
  • Great as a marinade for chicken or vegetables.
