Description

This easy ham glaze adds a perfect balance of sweetness and spice to baked ham. Made with brown sugar, honey, mustard, and warm spices, it caramelizes beautifully for a mouthwatering holiday centerpiece.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard (or yellow mustard)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (or pineapple juice)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves (or allspice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients over medium heat.
  2. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to simmer.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before using.
  5. Brush the glaze generously over a fully cooked ham during the last 20-30 minutes of baking. Reapply every 10 minutes for a deeper flavor and caramelization.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of bourbon or maple syrup.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer for a few extra minutes or add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with water.
  • This glaze works great on ham steaks, pork chops, or even roasted vegetables!
