Scale
- 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup half-and-half or whole milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. Prick the bottom with a fork. Optionally, pre-bake for 5–7 minutes to avoid sogginess.
- Sprinkle the ham, cheeses, and green onions evenly into the crust.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the fillings in the crust.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is just set and the top is lightly golden.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked bacon or turkey instead of ham.
- Add sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
- Quiche can be served warm, room temperature, or cold.
