Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cream cheese mixture)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for cream cheese mixture)
  • Orange gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  4. Stir in the flour and salt until just combined. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, reserving about 1/4 cup for topping.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth. Add orange gel food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
  6. Spoon the orange cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter in the pan. Drop the reserved brownie batter by spoonfuls on top.
  7. Use a knife to gently swirl the two mixtures together for a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  9. Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
