Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cream cheese mixture)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for cream cheese mixture)
- Orange gel food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Whisk in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
- Stir in the flour and salt until just combined. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, reserving about 1/4 cup for topping.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth. Add orange gel food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
- Spoon the orange cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter in the pan. Drop the reserved brownie batter by spoonfuls on top.
- Use a knife to gently swirl the two mixtures together for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
- Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Chill the brownies before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- Use gel food coloring for a more vibrant orange swirl.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
