1 lb ground turkey
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the teriyaki sauce:
-
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons honey
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch
-
3/4 cup water
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
For serving:
-
2 cups cooked white or brown rice
-
1 cup steamed broccoli
-
1/2 cup shredded carrots
-
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
-
2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, cornstarch, water, and brown sugar until smooth. Set aside.
-
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
-
Add ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes.
-
Add garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Stir and cook for another minute.
-
Pour in the teriyaki sauce and stir well. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the turkey.
-
Serve over warm rice with steamed broccoli and shredded carrots.
-
Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
-
Use jasmine or brown rice for more flavor.
-
Swap the turkey for ground chicken or beef if you’d like.
-
Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch and color.
-
Make it spicy by adding a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
