Description

Ground Beef Tostadas are crispy corn tortillas layered with seasoned ground beef, refried beans, and your favorite toppings like lettuce, cheese, and salsa for a quick and flavorful Mexican-inspired meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Hot sauce or jalapeño slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce or salsa. Simmer for 3–5 minutes. Set aside.
  5. Heat refried beans in a small saucepan until warm and spreadable.
  6. Warm tostada shells if desired, then spread a layer of refried beans on each shell.
  7. Top with ground beef, lettuce, cheese, diced tomatoes, and any additional toppings.
  8. Serve immediately for the crispiest texture.

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix a bit of lime juice into the sour cream before drizzling.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken as a substitute for beef.
  • Make your own tostada shells by baking or frying corn tortillas.
