Scale
- 10 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
- 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips or candy melts
- 2 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (for melting)
- Green food coloring (gel or liquid)
- Red heart sprinkles or candies
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
- 1/2 cup red and green M&Ms (optional, for added color)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Popcorn:
- Pop the popcorn and remove any unpopped kernels. Spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.
-
Melt the Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips (or candy melts) and coconut oil. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
-
Add Food Coloring:
- Stir in a few drops of green food coloring until you reach your desired “Grinch green” color.
-
Coat the Popcorn:
- Drizzle the melted green chocolate over the popcorn. Use a spatula or your hands (wear gloves if preferred) to toss and coat the popcorn evenly.
-
Add Toppings:
- Immediately sprinkle the popcorn with red heart sprinkles, mini marshmallows, and M&Ms. Gently press the toppings into the chocolate-coated popcorn so they stick.
-
Set and Serve:
- Let the popcorn sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden. Once set, break into clusters and enjoy!
Notes
- Customize: Swap out M&Ms for other festive candies or use different sprinkles.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Make it extra festive: Drizzle with red candy melts or add edible glitter for a sparkling effect.
