Ingredients
For the burgers:
-
1 1/4 lbs ground turkey (93% lean recommended)
-
1/4 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for structure)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
Olive oil, for brushing grill
For serving:
-
4 burger buns
-
Sliced mozzarella or provolone (optional)
-
Tomato slices
-
Arugula or lettuce
-
Additional pesto or mayo
Instructions
-
Mix the burger ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, pesto, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs if using. Mix gently until just combined—don’t overwork the meat. -
Form patties:
Shape into 4 equal-sized patties. Chill in the fridge for 15–20 minutes if time allows (helps them hold together better on the grill). -
Grill:
Preheat grill to medium-high heat and brush grates with oil. Grill patties for 5–6 minutes per side, or until internal temp reaches 165°F. Add cheese slices during the last minute if using. -
Assemble burgers:
Toast buns if desired. Spread pesto or mayo on the buns, then layer with arugula, tomato, and the grilled turkey patty. -
Serve:
Enjoy immediately with your favorite side dish!
