Description

The classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich features golden, buttery toasted bread with gooey, melted cheese inside—simple, satisfying, and perfect for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or your choice)
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or any melting cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread evenly.
  3. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  4. Top each with two slices of cheese, then place the remaining bread on top, buttered side up.
  5. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from skillet, let rest for 1 minute, slice in half, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use a mix of cheeses like mozzarella, Swiss, or American for extra flavor.
  • For a crispy crust, press the sandwich slightly with a spatula while cooking.
  • Add extras like tomatoes, bacon, or caramelized onions for a gourmet twist.
