Description

A cozy and satisfying baked dish made with pillowy gnocchi, tangy tomato sauce, and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for an easy weeknight meal or a comforting weekend dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500g) store-bought or homemade gnocchi
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook gnocchi in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In an oven-safe skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add cooked gnocchi to the sauce and stir to combine.
  6. Sprinkle Parmesan and mozzarella cheese over the top.
  7. Transfer to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add cooked spinach or sautéed mushrooms for extra veggies.
  • Use a cast iron skillet for an easy stovetop-to-oven transition.
  • Leftovers reheat well for lunch the next day.
