Description

A simple and delicious baked halibut recipe topped with a savory garlic Parmesan crust, perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner or elegant seafood meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 halibut fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat halibut fillets dry with paper towels and place them on the baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, and parsley to form a moist crumb mixture.
  4. Spoon and gently press the garlic Parmesan mixture evenly over the top of each fillet.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the topping is golden.
  6. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Panko breadcrumbs give extra crunch but regular breadcrumbs can also be used.
  • Swap halibut with cod or haddock if preferred.
  • Great with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, or salad.
  • Don’t overbake—the fish is done when it flakes easily and is opaque.
