Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup grated Asiago cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5-6 minutes per side or until cooked through and golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute to make a roux.
- Slowly pour in chicken broth, whisking to avoid lumps. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add heavy cream and Asiago cheese, stirring until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth. Add thyme if using.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top. Simmer for 3-5 more minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with your choice of sides.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Asiago for best melting and flavor.
- For a thicker sauce, simmer an extra 2-3 minutes before adding chicken.
- Great served over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
