For the French Toast Bites:
- 4 slices thick-cut bread (Brioche, Texas Toast, or French bread)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter (for frying)
For the Churro Coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for tossing)
For Dipping (Optional but Delicious!):
- Chocolate sauce 🍫
- Caramel sauce 🍯
- Maple syrup 🍁
Instructions
1. Prep the Bread:
- Cut bread slices into 1-inch cubes.
- Set aside while you prepare the batter.
2. Make the French Toast Batter:
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar until smooth.
3. Dip & Cook the Bites:
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Dip bread cubes into the egg mixture (don’t soak too long!).
- Cook in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
4. Coat in Churro Mixture:
- In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for the churro coating.
- Brush the warm bites with melted butter, then toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
5. Serve & Enjoy:
- Serve warm with chocolate, caramel, or maple syrup for dipping!
Notes
- Want extra crispiness? Bake the bites at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes after pan-frying.
- Make it ahead: Cook and store in an airtight container, then reheat in the oven or air fryer.
- Air Fryer Option: Air fry at 350°F for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway.
