- 3 cups (720ml) beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 8 oz (225g) egg noodles
- 1 cup (100g) shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Caramelize the Onions:
- In a large skillet or pot, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with 1 tsp sugar.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes more. Transfer the onions to a bowl and set aside.

- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef pieces, cooking until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the flour, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to coat the beef.
