Description

French Fried Potatoes are classic deep-fried potato sticks that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They’re a beloved side dish or snack, perfect with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or herbs for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into evenly sized sticks or matchsticks.
  2. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat thoroughly dry with a clean towel.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large heavy-bottomed pot to 325°F (165°C).
  4. Fry the potatoes in batches for 3-4 minutes until they are soft but not browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C). Fry the potatoes again in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels and season immediately with salt or desired seasonings.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Double frying is the key to getting fries extra crispy.
  • Soaking helps achieve a fluffier interior and crisper exterior.
  • You can season fries with truffle salt, parmesan, or fresh herbs for gourmet flair.
