Description

These French Dip Biscuits are a savory twist on the classic sandwich, packed with roast beef, melted cheese, and flaky biscuits. Served with a flavorful au jus for dipping, they’re perfect for appetizers, snacks, or an easy meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Biscuits:
    • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuits (e.g., Pillsbury Grands)
    • 1/2 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
    • 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese, cut in half
    • 1 tablespoon melted butter
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • For the Au Jus:
    • 1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
    • 3 cups water
    • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Biscuits:
    • Separate the biscuits and gently flatten each one with your hands.
    • Place a slice of roast beef and a half-slice of cheese in the center of each biscuit.
    • Fold the edges of the biscuit dough over the filling, pinching to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Brush with Butter:
    • Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley for added flavor.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the Au Jus:
    • While the biscuits bake, prepare the au jus according to the package directions. Typically, whisk the au jus mix with water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir in Worcestershire sauce if using, and keep warm.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the biscuits warm with small bowls of au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite cheese for a different flavor.
  • For added richness, sauté onions and place them inside the biscuits with the roast beef.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
