Description

Firecracker Salmon is a flavorful dish that combines the richness of salmon with a spicy, tangy marinade. It’s known for its balance of heat and sweetness, making it a delightful meal for those who enjoy bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce (such as Heinz)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)
  • A pinch of crushed red chili flakes
  • 12 teaspoons sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (mild, smoky, or spicy)
  • Chopped chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, minced ginger, olive oil, soy sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, red chili flakes, and sriracha until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Salmon:
    • Season the salmon fillets with salt, pepper, and paprika.
    • Place the salmon in the marinade, ensuring each fillet is thoroughly coated.
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for a more intense flavor.
  3. Cook the Salmon:
    • Preheat your oven to 370°F (190°C).
    • Heat a small amount of oil in an oven-proof skillet over medium heat.
    • Sear the salmon fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a crispy crust.
    • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Serve:
    • Garnish the cooked salmon with chopped chives and serve warm.

Notes

  • For an extra burst of flavor, consider making a double batch of the firecracker sauce. Brush the additional sauce over the salmon after baking, just before serving.
