Description

These Eggnog Rum Balls are a festive, no-bake treat with the flavors of creamy eggnog, warm spices, and a hint of rum. Perfect for holiday parties or edible gifts, these sweet bites are easy to make and irresistibly indulgent!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs (about 60 wafers, crushed)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup spiced rum (or eggnog for a non-alcoholic version)
  • 1/4 cup eggnog
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

1. Prepare the Mixture:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla wafer crumbs, powdered sugar, chopped nuts (if using), nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  2. Add the spiced rum, eggnog, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture comes together and is slightly sticky.

2. Shape the Balls:

  1. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball using your hands.
  2. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

3. Roll in Powdered Sugar:

  1. Roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat completely. For extra sweetness, roll them again just before serving.

4. Chill and Serve:

  1. Refrigerate the rum balls for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up.
  2. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: These rum balls taste even better the next day as the flavors develop.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freezing: Freeze the balls for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Decorative Touch: Roll the balls in crushed graham crackers, shredded coconut, or festive sprinkles instead of powdered sugar for variety.
