Description

Easy Snickerdoodle Bars are soft, chewy dessert bars with a buttery cinnamon-sugar flavor, just like the classic cookie but baked in one pan for simplicity. Perfect for parties, bake sales, or everyday treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the 2 tbsp granulated sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the dough.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars and serving.

Notes

  • For a slightly gooey center, bake on the lower end of the time range.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar topping for extra warmth.
