- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cups seitan, sliced into strips
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the seitan strips and sauté for 5–7 minutes, until lightly browned.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.
- Pour the sauce over the seitan and stir to coat.
- Mix the cornstarch and water, then stir into the skillet.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the seitan.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if using.
- Serve hot over rice or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- Use store-bought or homemade seitan for convenience.
- Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing the maple syrup.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
