Description
Easy Rice Pilaf is a flavorful side dish made with rice, sautéed onions, garlic, and broth, cooked to fluffy perfection and perfect alongside meats, seafood, or vegetarian mains.

- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust based on broth)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
- Stir in the rice and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Pour in the broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir in fresh parsley if using.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
- Add diced carrots or peas for extra color and nutrition.
- Brown rice can be used but will require more liquid and longer cook time.
- Perfect for meal prep—reheats well.
