This Pistachio Puppy Chow is a fun twist on the classic snack, combining the sweet, crunchy goodness of puppy chow with the nutty flavor of pistachios. It’s perfect for parties, holidays, or a simple treat to share with friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups rice cereal squares (like Rice Chex)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup pistachio butter (or almond butter if unavailable)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachios (optional, for extra crunch)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Coating

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips, pistachio butter, and unsalted butter.
  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.

2. Coat the Cereal

  1. Place the rice cereal squares in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate and pistachio mixture over the cereal, gently folding with a spatula until all the pieces are evenly coated.

3. Add the Powdered Sugar

  1. Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable plastic bag or a large container with a lid.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag (or container), and shake vigorously until all the cereal is well-coated.

4. Add Pistachios (Optional)

  1. If desired, stir in the chopped pistachios for an extra nutty crunch.

5. Serve and Store

  1. Spread the puppy chow on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and set for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
