Instructions
Prepare the Cheese Bites:
-
Cut the Cheese:
- Cut the block of cheese into 1-inch cubes.
-
Set Up Breading Station:
- Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
- In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Bread the Cheese:
- Dip each cheese cube into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese to ensure an even coating.
- For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating.
Fry the Cheese Bites:
-
Heat the Oil:
- In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
-
Fry the Cheese Bites:
- Fry the cheese bites in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve Hot:
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Freeze the breaded cheese bites for 10-15 minutes before frying to prevent the cheese from oozing out too quickly.
- Use different cheeses like pepper jack for a spicy twist or gouda for a rich, smoky flavor.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an air fryer or oven at 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
