Ingredients

Scale

(Serves 6-8)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese or meat ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Meat Sauce:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes (if using), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

2. Layer the Ingredients in the Crockpot:

  1. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the crockpot to prevent sticking.
  2. Add a layer of frozen ravioli (about 1/3 of the package), ensuring they slightly overlap.
  3. Spoon a layer of meat sauce over the ravioli, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Repeat the layers (ravioli, sauce, cheese) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

3. Cook:

  1. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours, until the ravioli is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

4. Serve:

  1. Turn off the crockpot and let the lasagna cool slightly for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve warm with garlic bread or a side salad.
